“Growing Pains” framed original
24x24 ink on illustration board.custom frame built for this piece, includes moss accents and fairy lights to add backlighting.
This was my first large piece of art. I originally made this for what would have been my first gallery show, if I wasn’t such an idiot back in the day. Short story is: I missed the deadline by 10 minutes and felt the coldness of my first rejection. Whoops. Regardless, I spent many many hours on this piece, and it has really grown on me even more over time.
I wanted to convey the beauty of growth. How we have some unevenness in our layers, some deep wounds that felt impossible to heal from, and some cracks in us that don’t heal, they just become another unique piece of who we are.
